How do you style a short black dress for a beautiful summer day of walking and climbing along the seaside? Why, you pair them with glittery gold sneakers, of course!
I’m a relatively new convert to wearing sneakers with dresses. I underwent the metamorphosis around the time of THIS POST. I especially like them with maxi skirts or mini skirts/dresses. In this last instance, they keep the look perfect for daytime – not to mention how easy they make it to walk (or recline) on uneven terrain.
I love dressing up. I prefer to be overdressed than underdressed. Nonetheless, tea dresses and high-heeled sandals don’t lend themselves so easily to certain activities.
The great thing about this outfit is that it is easily transformable for dinner later on. I could just slip on a pair of strappy sandals and a little jacket, for example.
I went “as is” to dinner, however at Cafe Gratitude. Heard of it? If not, it’s this restaurant with delectable plant-based dishes, smoothies, and desserts. Only the atmosphere isn’t exactly what I’d call swanky.
The gold sneakers
These gold starred sneakers, at least, added glam. I scored them in a tiny store in Manhattan where everything was advertised as being 30% off. If you’re not already aware, you have to watch out for these stores. They have signs posted everywhere saying “Everything must go!” You’ll swear that it looks as if the store will be closing out in a few days.
Of course, if you pass by months or years later, it’ll still be there with similar signs. 😀
I actually had to haggle with the employee of the store for my 30% discount. He claimed that the sneakers are “new stock” and that he needed permission from his manager and later, the district manager. Suuuure!
I still love the shoes. And as a matter of fact, I loved the whole outfit for a gorgeous day on the Santa Cruz coast! Hope you liked them as well.
