#OOTD – Channeling Chanel on an Overcast Day in Soho

Is Chanel making a lightweight puffer coat now?! Well, not exactly. But I’m sure you’ll agree that Liliya’s look here is definitely Chanel-esque.

This past week, Mark and I were traveling around the east coast and stopped over in the Big Apple. Liliya also happened to be in New York – back from her latest adventure – that same couple of days. And so, it was a reunion! It was also a great opportunity to share Liliya’s fabulous outfit with you.

We met at Spring Natural Restaurant in Soho. The weather wasn’t too summery. And so, Liliya dressed accordingly. Her rubber boots were an ultra chic selection!

The Boots

How could any fashionista not fall in love with these rubber boots by RED Valentino? They are so unexpected. To start off with, how many rubber boots have metal buckles? And from a distance, they almost look like biker boots. They remind me, in fact, of All Saints booties from THIS POST.

I have to say that it was surprising for me to see rubber boots by Valentino, which is traditionally about opulent materials. I suppose it’s the new Valentino (like Rockstuds). Yet, Valentino’s traditional spirit of femininity is still reflected in bows on the sides of the boots.

The Jacket

Of course, what first caught my attention about Liliya’s look was what looks like a Chanel puffer. It has the four pockets in front with contrasting strips. I realized that it was actually by another brand when I spotted a signature Kate Spade bow at the back of the neck. Another bow!

I love this modern spin on a design that never goes out of style. And Liliya made a great choice with a brand also known for feminine designs. (You can see another fabulous Kate Spade outfit HERE.)

And isn’t it fitting that she paired the Chanel-esque jacket with a Karl Lagerfeld tee?

Distressed black denim jeans tie in nicely with the vibe of rubber “biker boots.” And the pink invisibobble® at the bottom of her braid is a nice girly touch.

That day, Liliya and I caught up on near-future plans. She mentioned that hers are to spend a short time in Miami. She was wistful about leaving behind her cool-weather wardrobe. And I can totally understand why. Years of living in New York with an eye for style has resulted in an awesome cool-weather collection.

But on the other hand, we’ll have another special treat: being able to see Liliya’s warm-weather and resort dressing inspiration! Be sure to stay tuned!
