The other day, I went to visit my friend Christina in Bellevue, a beautiful city just across a floating bridge from Seattle. I love Christine’s style. On this day, she was wearing cozy shearling mules with her favorite pair of jeans along with a cool oversized top. It was just the thing for a rainy-day chat by the fire. I had to admire how on-point and chic it is while seeming effortless.
Here’s what Christina has to say about the pieces making up this great look…
The Shirt
I love this oversized linen shirt from Aritzia. I like that it has a boxy shape, but the linen texture softens the look of the shirt. It is extremely comfortable and looks great with slim denim jeans. You can dress it up with dark wash denim jeans or leather leggings, or keep it simple with lighter denim and casual loafers or sneakers. It’s an easy, wearable piece for any wardrobe.

The Jeans
These are my favorite jeans this season. They are a high-waisted button-fly, which is comfortable and perfect for tucking in shirts or wearing with shirts that hit at the waist. They are a mix between a boyfriend and a slim-fit jean which is great, because some boyfriend jeans can look too baggy for my taste. These jeans are a very soft denim that get a nice lived-in, vintage look over time.

The Shoes
Here again is another menswear-inspired piece. That is the style I most gravitate towards. I have to admit that I was not sure about these loafers at first but was completely sold when I tried them on. I have worn them with everything from silk dresses to denim shorts. The shoes make any outfit more fun but still keep it chic and classy.
If you are on the fence about these loafers, I highly recommend trying them on. They will surprise you by how nice they look!

My Inspiration
One of the qualities of Christina’s style which I especially admire is that it’s smart. Her accessories – jewelry, shoes, and handbags – are her investment pieces. Take, for example, her to-die-for Cartier LOVE bracelets. At the same time, many of her clothing pieces are fun, trendy, and at a much lower price point. I got to see some of her recent purchases, for instance, from Zara and Aritiza (of her native Canada.) They were around $25-30 each! It makes sense to invest more in what we wear the most!
I can certainly imagine myself wanting to wear these cool fur-lined loafers every day. Can’t you?
XO, Janea
