It seems that French girl style is on everyone’s lips these days. But what about those chic Italian girls? My friend Lara proves that not only French girls have that je ne said quoi.
Weather in northern Italy has been crazy lately. One day it’s freezing and the next, you don’t know what to wear – it’s so hot. On one of those warm days, I went out with my friend Lara for a walk and an aperitivo. I adore Lara’s style. And so I took the opportunity to photograph her outfit – and share it with you!
I love mixing styles and brands (designer pieces with mass market ones). Lara’s outfit demonstrates a great mix: Zara pants with a Furla bag, River Island top, and Xetra jacket.
I especially adore her spring/summery kimono jacket. The floral print stands out and adds a pop of a color to her otherwise all-black look. And it’s perfect for one of those days when it’s warm outside but cool and windy in the shade.
Italian women, by the way, often wear all black with red lipstick for going out. They know very well how to dress to look fabulous. Interestingly, you seldom see an Italian girl in high heels during the day. A favorite hairstyle is to wear it down and loose.
Lara beautifully demonstrates that Italian girl style. The medium-height heel of her open-toed ankle boot is very comfortable for walking around. And the style is both elegant and appropriate for spring weather.
If you look at Lara’s jewelry, you’ll notice something else about Italian girl style. Italian women are big fans of silver and are often seen wearing multiple bracelets (as I wrote in my RUSSIAN VS. ITALIAN STYLE post).
And let’s not forget the handbag. In Italy, women mostly carry totes and medium-sized bags during the day. I often see Lara carrying her Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote or this medium-sized Furla bag.
I have travelled a lot and have seen different people from all over the world. But I think that Italy has to be one of the most stylish of all. Italians love fashion, follow the latest fashion, and always look chic no matter how old they are. You can see men in their seventies who are just as stylish as younger people.
And of course, I simply love Lara’s Italian girl style. Which country do you think is the most stylish?

I agree that Italian ladies know how to dress up. They are fashionable yet modest. It was very obvious to me as i walked around the street of Rome …
