Now that the sun is coming out a bit more, it’s time to get out those shorter dresses! And what better way is there than with SNEAKERS to give off a laid back vibe and keep the sexy factor in bounds?
First of all, I must say that this isn’t your ordinary mini dress. If you’re a long-time reader, you’ll remember it from Emily Payne’s San Francisco FASHION SHOW last fall. In fact, I’m wearing the very same one that sashayed down that runway! Only now can I wear it with bare legs. Woohoo!
The Setting: Madison Park
Seattle weather has actually been decent this past week! Gasp, I know. 🙂 When I start missing California, I like to visit this neighborhood. It’s called Madison Park. People say that Seattleites tend to be cold and standoffish (that “Seattle freeze” thing). But in Madison Park, strangers engage me in friendly conversation. And it borders on Lake Washington – quite lovely.
The Dress
But getting back to the dress, let me show you its back view.
It really begs to be taken out into warmer weather with the intentional rip. I know that some people might find fault with a woman over 40 wearing this style of garment. But, hey, I’m wearing a short dress anyway. And besides, I enjoy experimenting with something a little edgier.
I am sure that this dress will get plenty of play on these warmer spring days and into summer. On cool evenings here or back in the Monterey Bay area, I’ll just pop on a little black blazer. I love the contrast between a serious blazer and ultra casual sneakers.
Hope you like this mini dress with sneakers outfit. As I was taking the photo shoot, a couple of Madison Parkers commented on how “Picasso-esque” the dress looks. I think that its unique, edgy design and fabric makes it go even better with sneakers. What do you think?
I was wearing: Emily Payne dress / Nike sneakers / Furla handbag / Tissot watch / Balenciaga sunglasses

Hi, McLauren! Since Emily Payne’s designs for women are all one-off, we don’t sell them on the blog. However, she does amazing custom work. I recommend messaging her directly if you are interested in something similar and for prices: https://www.facebook.com/LeatherTongue/ Thanks for stopping by. xo
