#OOTN – Lacy LBD With a Short Tweed Jacket for Tapas in Los Gatos

Lacy LBD in Los Gatos

One of the fun things about changing seasons is the chance to wear pieces that have been hibernating in my closet. While packing for a working “vacation” in California, I was so happy to include garments that aren’t as compatible with current Seattle weather. They included this lacy LBD. And to go with it, I brought along one of my favorite little jackets.

Tapas paradise

The occasion? My husband Mark and I have a lot of favorite restaurants. But our all-time favorite regular spot is Pinxto Pote in Los Gatos, California. We’ve befriended the owner Hector and his wife Angie from Spain’s Basque region. And it’s almost like stepping into a space capsule that brings us to Spain (albeit with English being spoken).

Since this isn’t a food blog, I won’t go into culinary details. But let it suffice to say that it’s always a festive occasion to come to Pinxto Pote. That was my motivation this evening for dressing up. In retrospect, it seems that I may have even put together a look which gives off a quasi Spanish vibe.

Coincidentally, the name of the town where it is located is made up of Spanish words which mean “the cats.” Hence, the large cats at the entrance to the tiny mall where our tapas heaven is located.

My outfit-of-the-night

The dress is one I’ve had a while, since it’s timeless. I love how it flatters my particular figure. The halter top accentuates my shoulders, while the A-line skirt visually slims my hips. And its black lace reminds me of something a woman a long time ago would have worn to a bull fight. Or maybe that’s just my fantasy. 😉

The pumps are another classic item. They’re by Dior and so like the signature styles from the 50s. With its mid-height heel, they are so comfortable. And the patent leather makes them look a little more festive and dressy.

The jacket surely is one of those pieces I plan on holding onto forever. Its classic style reminds me of the iconic Chanel jacket in terms of its cut and large buttons. It is also so beautifully made with a herringbone pattern on the outside and bright red interior – something else that reminds me of bull-fighting.

Sure, I love playing with current trends when they suit me, but I also love drawing on looks from the past. And timeless lace is one of my favorite ways to dress for a romantic date night with my sweetheart. I hope you liked the outfit. Ole!

XO, Janea
