Who is this stunning creature? Part of me instantly thought this when I met Julia for dinner in Piacenza – one of the highlights of my recent trip to Italy! True to her style, Julia’s look was classically elegant with a modern touch.
You might agree after seeing these photos that she seemed to be channeling Victoria Beckham. I remember Julia telling me a while back that Victoria is one of her style icons.
Another of her sources of inspiration is Audrey Hepburn. I could easily imagine Audrey wearing these classic high-waisted, wide-legged pants by Flavio Castellani.
Flavio Castellani trousers
The Italian brand Flavio Castellani is one of Julia’s preferred. In fact, she wore a Flavio Castellani skirt way back in THIS POST. She tells me that it seems to her to have an almost Russian flavor (she is a Russian living in Italy, you might remember). That is, in the way that the clothing is ornate. Perhaps more ornate than most other Italian brands. Dolce & Gabbana might be an exception, right?
These pants are admittedly not overly embellished. But they make for a long, gorgeous silhouette. And the way they fall is so luxuriously elegant.
I would love to be so delicate of structure as Julia. Interestingly, however, these pants make her look very tall. I seem to recall wide-legged pants also doing something similar for me HERE.
Silky Intimissimi camisole with lace detail
And someone who loves to mix higher-end with more affordable pieces (as seen HERE), Julia styled her Flavio Castellani trousers with a silky Intimissimi camisole. The lingerie-like top with lace detail is a perfectly on-point touch. And it’s so (tastefully) sexy in nude.
As if the outfit weren’t already chic enough, a popping red handbag (which you may recall from THIS POST), dangly earrings, and a pair of high-heeled sandals make it all the more sophisticated. Yes, Victoria and Audrey may be influencing her style on at least an unconscious level. But the outfit is pure Julia!
I hope you are as inspired as I am. Confession: the very next evening, I went into Intimissimi and purchased the same satin cami!
Julia wore: Intimissima top / Flavio Castellani pants / Aldo sandals / Furla bag
