#OOTD – Julia’s Hot Summer Weather Outfit

Julia's hot weather #OOTD

You know that saying, “Dance like nobody’s watching”? Well, I think that the mark of woman with true style is how she dresses when she has nothing special planned.

That’s how it was with Julia on this particular day.

Okay, we all have our days off when we really don’t want to think so much about what we are wearing. I recently read that Marilyn Monroe had dozens of black silk slips made for her. What a beautiful way to dress comfortably, even if you don’t feel like leaving the house all day.

In a similar vein, Julia’s look when we met for lunch in Piacenza was something she “threw on.” (I recently took a holiday to Italy.) Our lunch plans were last-minute. But Julia’s outfit was perfect for lunch at a café with outdoor seating. And it was true to her style.

First of all, it was well-suited to the weather. The day was very warm. I mistakenly wore mostly black, but Julia’s lightweight white tee scored an A+ for comfort. Her cotton pants are breathable. And the flats were an excellent choice for walking around on a really hot day. I know that at least for me, that’s something that makes my feet swell A LOT.

Secondly, the look is classic and stylish. The top was a gift from a good friend. Julia loves its feminine print and the sleeves, which are slightly longer than a standard t-shirt. I also like the contrasting band at the top.

As Julia mentioned in THIS POST, ballet flats are a staple in the wardrobes of Italian women. Come to think of it, when I met a former model for top Italian brands in Milan, she confessed that she has them in all colors. The pair that Julia wore is classic. As she put it in THIS POST, they never go out of style. And since the quality is so high, she wears them a lot.

Something else that makes this comfortable look chic are the accessories, which Julia always does well. The red bag adds a lovely splash of color against a mainly black and white outfit. And her oversized designer sunglasses are something she wears every day, because they go with all of her outfits.

I couldn’t help but be reminded of Audrey Hepburn when I saw the ensemble. Of course, it was a huge treat to be able to see a dear friend who lives so far away. But it’s also great to be able to share her style inspiration with you.
