Depending on your job, your work wardrobe could be a breeze. In just about every job though, there are times – meetings or interviews, let’s say – when more effort is required to look ultra business-like. For that mid-summer heat, there’s one shirt that keeps you extra cool and looks perfectly professional: the sleeveless button-down.
You might recall one of my recent work outfits including a sleeveless tee from THIS POST. If your workplace doesn’t have a super strict dress code, the tee can be styled to look quite professional. When you really want to impress your client or boss or someone else with your savvy work style, however, I would instead recommend the sleeveless button-down.
A Red Blazer
It goes nicely with a blazer for those times when air conditioning is set for male metabolisms. That is, about ten degrees below what is comfortable for us women.
I chose a jacket in power-red. And to go with it, nude-colored pumps make the look more summery yet conservative.
When the air conditioning conks out or you’re really getting in the mode to roll up your sleeves, a sleeveless shirt is a treat. I’m wearing my button-down untucked, which I believe still looks polished. That is, since I’ve gone pretty monotone otherwise. A silk pussy bow blouse like one I wore HERE is another option for wearing a sleeveless yet still businessy look.
Now I suppose there are some workplaces still in the Stone Age that don’t allow bare arms. I really hope that isn’t your lot! I work in a Bay Area courthouse, where we definitely have dress protocols. And fortunately, I see plenty of women wearing a top like this one. Hope you like the outfit!
